Contactless Payments Hit €2.5 Million Per Day

This is according to figures from the first quarter of the year.

Contactless payments in Ireland reached  €2.5 million payments per day during the first quarter of the year.

Figures from the Banking and Payments Federation Ireland show Irish consumers continue to embrace online and mobile banking, with volumes growing by more than 13% during the period.

Head of Payments at the federation Gillian Byrne said Cheque payments hit a new quarterly low at only €4.5 million, which was about half the volume seen in quarter one in 2018.
