New research has found the venom of a false widow spider is far more potent than native species here.
The research from NUIG found its bite is 230 times more poisonous than the average Daddy Long-Legs.
The spider originated from the Canary Islands and was first found here in 1999, and its bite has led to some people being treated in hospital.
