Green-Schools is an initiative of FEE (the Foundation for Environmental Education).
Students in the Midlands have taken part in electricity saving workshops.
Students and their teachers from Edenderry in Offaly and Mountmellick in Laois took part in this Green Schools programme which is in partnership with EirGrid.
The initiative which was held in Portlaoise, included activities and experiments to raise awareness about energy consumption and the importance of moving to renewable power.
To date, over 3,000 schools have been awarded the energy flag since the beginning of the Green-Schools programme in 1997.
