Most Popular Valentine's Day Date Ideas Revealed

A survey also shows that the midlands may be more romantic that you might think...

Cinema dates and bowling alley visits are the most popular on Valentine's Day.

Data from AIB shows spending in cinemas was up 86% on Valentine's Day last year and 73% more was spent in bowling alleys, when compared to other three Tuesdays last February.

The amount spent on flowers differed across the country, but Westmeath was found to be on the lower end of the spectrum at €43.

While lovebirds in Offaly spent among the lowest when it came to jewellery, at around €62.

Matchmaker Love HQ Dublin, Mullingar's Mairead Loughman, says writing a thoughtful message on a card is a simple way to show love on Valentine's Day:

A midlands town has once again cracked the top 10 in the most romantic locations in Ireland.

Lovebirds in Tullamore will need look no further for a Valentine's Day date spot, as the Offaly town has placed tenth on the list from HelloFresh.

The number one spot was claimed by Killarney, while Sligo and Ennis make up the top three.

Portlaoise was also mentioned in the survey, for anyone looking for a cheesy Valentine's, the Laois town will only cost you an average of €2.29 for artisan cheese.
