3% Of Midlands Homes Are Vacant

The highest rate of vacancy in the region is in Westmeath, at just over 4%.

3% of homes around the midlands are vacant.

GeoDirectory's latest report shows there's a vacancy rate of just over 4% in Westmeath, followed by 3.6% in Offaly, and 2.6% in Laois.

Westmeath represents the only county in the region with a vacancy rate higher than the national average, which is 3.9%.

That figure is a record low, and remains unchanged from the same time last year.

The report also found the average cost of a home in both Westmeath and Laois was €274,000, respectively, while that number is €252,000 in Offaly.

GeoDirectory's analysis found the average price of a home in the midlands is significantly lower than the national figure, which is more than €380,000.

That's an increase of over 4% on this time last year.

The most expensive homes can be found in Dublin, with an average price tag of over €500,000, while the cheapest houses are in Longford, where the average price is €182,000.
