Cabinet Minister admits the state is struggling to house asylum seekers.

The Government insist the housing of refugees in a midlands barracks is "temporary" and "appropriate".

Last month, protestors blocked a bus entering Columb Barracks in Mullingar.

It came after a proposal that up to 120 single male refugees were to be accommodated in tents on the site.

Approximately 80,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Ireland in the last year.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister and Fine Gael TD Simon Coveney says the State is trying to listen local people:
