A target of €5,000 has been set for the fundraiser.
A man will be cycling through Westmeath over the next two days, pulling a dialysis machine behind him.
Peter Conboy is undertaking the journey from Temple Street Children's Hospital to the Circle of Life Garden in Galway over the course of five days, starting this morning at around 10am.
So far, over €2,700 has been raised for the Irish Kidney Association, with a target set of €5,000.
Mr. Conboy's wife, Liz, underwent a kidney transplant 22 years ago after being diagnosed with kidney failure as a teenager.
He is encouraging everyone to become organ donors, and says he will be forever grateful to the person and family who donated to his wife:
