Eight premises were searched during the operation, with over 413,000 cigarettes seized.

More than €600,000 worth of illegal cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol has been seized in Westmeath.

Revenue officers, supported by Gardaí, searched eight premises as part of an intelligence-led operation.

They recovered more than 413,000 cigarettes, over 230 kilos of tobacco, 82 litres of alcohol and more than €21,000 in cash.

Three men, two in their 30's and one in their 70's were questioned and investigations are continuing.
