The body of Robert Corbet of Capoley, Sheffield Cross in Portlaoise was found in Mountjoy on Monday.
A convicted Laois murderer has died in Mountjoy Prison.
Mr Robert Corbet of Capoley, Sheffield Cross in Portlaoise had been jailed for life in May 2014 for the murder of 30-year-old Aoife Phelan from Ballyroan in late 2012.
The Irish Prison Service is confirming his body was discovered at around 6 yesterday morning.
Ms Phelan worked as a nanny and went missing on the 25th of October that year, with her body eventually discovered in a barrel 10 feet below ground behind Mr Corbet's home.
Aoife's mother Betty made an appeal on Midlands 103 at the time of her disappearance - saying what happened was unimaginable:
