€25 Million Allocated For Developing And Maintaining Midlands Roads

The midlands counties are receiving €15 million, €10 million and €3 million respectively.

Just over €25 million is being allocated for the development and maintenance of roads in the Midlands.

The funding from Transport Infrastructure Ireland comes as a result of funding from Budget 2020.

Westmeath County Council is the biggest benficiary - more than €15 million is being earmarked for projects in the county.

That includes €2 million to progress the Galway to Athlone cycle-way.

Nearly €10 million has been allocated to projects in Laois - the largest portion will be dedicated to upgrading parts of the N80 around Portlaoise.

Offaly will have to do with just over €3 million - the biggest project there will be €800,000 toward paving improvements on the N62.

Nationally over €450 million has been given to maintaining the national road network throughout the country.
