The funding includes €6m for the Mullingar to Longford N4 upgrade.

Just over €41m in roads funding is being announced for the Midlands.

€11m is going to more than 10 projects in Westmeath including €6m for the N4 Mullingar to Longford upgrade.

Laois is set to receive over €15m for over 30 projects, meanwhile over €15m is also going to over 20 projects in Offaly.

The Department of Transport is providing over €1.5bn in exchequer funding representing a 13% increase in road funding compared to last year.

€14m is being invested into road safety measures, while €20m is being ringfenced for bridgeworks and schemes to tackle traffic congestion.
