Electric Picnic Countdown: Chappell Roan And Hozier Set To Open EP With A Bang

This year's first night boasts a stellar line-up.

It's day one of Electric Picnic with Chappell Roan and Hozier headlining tonight.

Other acts performing in Stradbally this weekend include Kneecap, Sam Fender, Fatboy Slim and Kings of Leon.

Organiser Melvin Benn from Festival Republic is looking forward to tonight in particular:

Gardaí at Electric Picnic are issuing advice to anyone who feels unsafe at any stage this weekend.

There will be information hubs available 24 hours a day, with Gardai asking campers to mark where they've left their tents so that they don't get lost.

People with general tickets attending today have been able to enter since 9am this morning, with gates closing at 1pm on Monday, September 1, with car parking free all weekend.

Inspector Ralph Holmes from the Laois/Offaly Roads Policing Unit says there will be plenty of security around all the arenas and camp sites:

Leave the high heels at home - that's the advice from a midlands weather forecaster ahead of Electric Picnic this weekend.

Met Eireann is advising of scattered showers and gusty winds over Saturday and Sunday.

80-thousand music fans attending Stradbally are being warned to pack the wellies and ponchos.

Chappell Roan and Hozier will be headlining this evening, before Kneecap, Sam Fender and Fatboy Slim take to the main stage tomorrow.

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather says the under foot conditions should hold up relatively well:

The HSE says it's concerned about the strength of MDMA as it opens its drug surrender bins at Electric Picnic.

People can drop drugs into bins to be tested, if they have any concerns about the substance.

Drugs can be analysed immediately at labs on site, and warnings will be posted on screens at the main stage, and through push notifications on the EP app.

HSE Emerging Drug Trends Project Manager, Nikki Killeen says the aim is to reduce harm:
