He had been evading arrest from Gardai since last week.
Enoch Burke is back in Mountjoy Prison.
The former teacher at Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath was picked up by gardai yesterday on foot of a High Court order to jail him again for contempt.
Enoch Burke’s latest return to jail marks his fourth stint behind bars for contempt.
Last week, High Court judge, Mr J Brian Cregan, approved an application brought by Wilson’s Hospital School to have him sent back to prison.
It was brought on foot of his continued defiance of a court order refraining him from attending at the school, from where he was dismissed for gross misconduct.
In his judgement, Mr J Cregan made it clear that his repeated imprisonment had nothing to do with his views on transgender issues, as claimed by Mr Burke.
He said he is perfectly entitled to have those views and to articulate.
He said he had been imprisoned and fined for contempt of court, because he has breached court orders directing him not to trespass on school property.
Since the judgement was delivered this day last week, gardai made several attempts to execute the order on Mr Burke, including calling to his family home in Co Mayo.
After tracking him down, they brought him back to Mountjoy Prison where he will remain unless he purges his contempt, or the court orders his release.
