The family of a missing Laois woman say they're devastated by a Garda decision not to upgrade her case to a murder investigation.
22 year old Imelda Keenan, from Mountmellick, in Laois, was last seen in Waterford City on Monday January 3rd, 1994.
The Irish Independent is reporting her family were informed by senior gardaí this week that the case will remain a missing persons inquiry.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of Ms Keenan's disappearance - on the day she vanished, she left her apartment in Waterford at 1:30pm and walked down William Street onto Lombard Street.
The last confirmed sighting of her was at the corner of the Tower Hotel and Lombard Street, where she was seen crossing the street.
Gardaí insist they are still actively investigating the disappearance of a Laois woman after her family went public with their anger over the case.

Investigating gardaí say after numerous public appeals, additional lines of enquiry were explored, and following a review of the case it was decided it would remain a missing persons investigation.
An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to anyone who might have information and has not come forward previously to contact Waterford Garda Station.
