150 people Irish citizens have requested to be evacuated from the country.
The Tánaiste and Minster for Foreign Affairs has confirmed around fifty Irish citizens have been evacuated from Sudan to date.
However Michéal Martin says it will take a number of days before all 150 Irish people who want to leave the country can be assisted.
12 Defence Forces personnel have been sent to the region, some left last night with others due to depart today.
It follows the tenth day of fighting in the country, which has resulted in over 430 deaths.
