Historic Midlands Structures Get €500k

The conservation funding is going to a number of projects in Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath.

Just under €500,000 has been awarded for historic structures across the Midlands.

€200,000 is being granted to Donaghmore Workhouse in Laois for roof and chimney repairs to prevent water damage.

In Offaly, €85,887 goes to Hill Street House in Magherabane in Cloghan for roof repairs and lime render.

While over €125,500 is being allocated to Moate's Railway Footbridge to install a new deck to open it back up to the Westmeath public.

And Athlone's Church Street and Lloyd Lane gets over €68,000 for conservation works and provision for ‘living-over-the-shop’ accommodation.

The scheme aims to conserve, protect, and promote the long term use of historic buildings across the country.
