ICSA Supporting Temporary Accommodation Plans Meat Factory Workers

The HSE is now preparing a report into why employers were given COVID-19 test results before the staff.

A leading farming organisation's welcoming plans to offer temporary accommodation to some staff in meat factories. 

It's one of the measures the HSE is taking to try to prevent the spread of Covid-19. 

So far, at least 860 cases of the virus have been confirmed in meat plants.

Edmond Phelan, president of Portlaoise-based Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers' Association, is backing the plans for alternative accommodation.:

The HSE is preparing a report into why employers were given COVID-19 test results before the staff who had been tested.

Health Minister Simon Harris has requested the report into why it happened in meat factories and care homes.

The HSE is engaging with the Data Protection Commissioner and has ended the practice.

Employers were informed initially to allow them to send people home where there was a large outbreak.
