Midlands Samaritans provide support to people who are struggling.
The Midlands Samaritans says there's an ever-increasing need for its services.
The group, which is based in Athlone, is calling for more volunteers to sign up for the service, which provides support to people who find themselves in difficulty by offering 24 hour communication by phone.
The charity in receives a call every minute, but says the centre in Athlone does not have enough volunteers to man the phones 24/7.
Training for anyone interested in volunteering will be held next Thursday.
Midlands Samaritans volunteer Anne McGrath says the volunteers are just ordinary people who want to help:
If you want to register for training, you can contact Anne on 087 7176189 or you can register online here.
If you need to talk to the Samaritans helpline, you can free call 116 123.
