Representatives met with TDs and the Mayor of Athlone last week.

It could take six months before a long term solution for the continued water restrictions in Westmeath is found.

OPW minister Kevin Boxer Moran along with Athlone mayor - Fianna Fail councillor Frankie Keena met with representatives from Irish Water last week.

A number of interim solutions are being explored with another meeting scheduled between both parties in January.
