June 2023 The Hottest On Record

The previous record was set over 80 years ago.

Met Éireann says June 2023 will be recorded as the hottest on record.

Provisional data shows Ireland has experienced its first June with 16+ degrees average temperatures.

That exceeds the previous June record which was held for 83 years.

The highest temperature of the year so far was Tuesday, June 13th, with a temperature of 28.8 degrees recorded in Oak Park, Carlow.

Half of the warmest months in the last 124 years have occurred since 2008.

That's according to data released by Met Éireann today.
