Laois Gardaí Make Arrests Over Murder Of William Delaney

Mr Delaney was reported missing by his family in 2019.

Gardai in Laois have arrested three people in connection with the investigation of the murder of William Delaney.

Mr Delaney was reported missing in March 2019 before his investigation was upgraded to a murder in June of that year.

He was a Tipperary man living in Portlaoise who left the General Hospital in the town where he'd been a patient on the 30th January 2019.

Gardai established he collected his welfare payment at the post office and, was last seen at 3 pm that day in Monasterevin outside a premises known locally as the Hazel Hotel.

He was then reported missing by his family on Wednesday 6th March, 2019.

In June of that year, Gardai received information that William Delaney had been killed and that his body had been buried at a location in Laois.

A search was conducted in the area surrounding the Rock of Dunamaise with no remains found.

The arrests made today are of two women, one in their 30’s and one in their 50’s,  and a man in his 30’s who are currently being detained at Garda Stations in the Midland and South Western regions
