A Laois man whose father was shot on duty as a prison officer in the 80's says it's important to help those at risk of radicalisation.
Portlaoise's Austin Stack is currently undergoing a mentorship role in an European exchange programme on the issue.
The theme is remembrance, with the agenda including a visit to the Prison Service College memorial to Austin's father Brian.
He had been working as chief prison officer in the IRA wing of Portlaoise Prison when he was shot in 1983, and passed away a year later.
A meeting has also been held with Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan through the programme.
