A learner driver has been arrested in Laois after being caught travelling at 178 kilometres per hour.
The motorist was detected driving in wet conditions on the M7 at Ballydavis, Portlaoise this morning.
The learner permit holder - who's not permitted to drive on a motorway - was also unaccompanied and not displaying L plates.
They've since been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court in the new year and their car was also seized.
