Midlands Average Monthly Rent Is Almost €2,000

Every county in Ireland has seen a rise in the cost of rent.

People in the midlands are paying an average of just over €1,600 euro in monthly rent.

Each county in the region has seen a rise of more than 10% since the same time last year.

Rental costs in Westmeath have seen the highest increase in the midlands, at 11% with people renting there now paying more than €1,600 each month.

In Offaly, costs have risen by 10.7%, while in Laois an increase is 10.3% bringing the cost in both counties to over €1,500. 

Every county in Ireland has seen a rise in the cost of rent since November 2023.  

Nationally, rental prices have seen an increase of more than 7% year on year. 

The average monthly rent nationally is currently at just below €2,000.

The most expensive prices are in Dublin, with every region in the county reaching north of €2,000. 

Monthly mortgage repayments in the midlands are currently an average of just over €800.

That's for a three bedroom house, while rent for the same property in the region is at around €1,400. 

The highest prices in both cases in the midlands comes in Westmeath, with homebuyers paying an average of €870 every month in their mortgage.

In Offaly that figures comes to just under €790, and in Laois it's just below €780.
