The National Federation of Group Water Schemes has honoured groups in the Midlands.
Midlands groups are being recognised at the 2026 GWS Excellence Awards.
The National Federation of Group Water Schemes has announced the recipients which highlights the work of community-owned group water schemes throughout Ireland across water quality, climate action, biodiversity, and community involvement.
Multyfarnham GWS in Westmeath was crowned overall winner of the Community Engagement Award, with Ballinagar GWS in Offaly a recepient.
The Heath GWS in Laois were recepients of the Water Safety Planning and Quality Assurance Implementation and Water Demand Management and Climate Action Award.
Other Laois recepients were Ballacolla GWS, alongside Offaly's Ballinagar GWS, Clareen GWS and Eglish and Drumcullen Rath GWS.
Mick Spain of Eglish, Drumcullen & Rath GWS and Joan Roche of Cadamstown GWS were Special Award recipients recognised on the day.
