Turkey and Syria have been devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, with over 5,000 people killed.
A midlands man is collecting donations to support the people of Turkey, who have been devastated by an earthquake.
Omer Cakici, has been living in Westmeath for 16 years, and runs Omer The Turkish Barber in Athlone.
He is appealing to everyone to bring items into his shop on Connaught Street, which he will then deliver to the Turkish Embassy.
The death toll of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which shook Turkey and Syria, has surpassed 5,000.
Mr. Cakici says there's already been a positive uptake on the idea:
Donations are already being to pour in, with people donating air beds, nappies and hygiene products.
