Independent rep Ciaran Mullooly believes over three thousand farmers in the region may be forced out of farming upon reaching the State Pension age of 66.
He wants to see the introduction of a well-funded retirement scheme for farmers along the lines of 'Early Farm Retirement Scheme' of the 90s.
