A motorist has been arrested in the Midlands after clocking a speed of 180km/h, while under the influence.
Laois Roads Policing Unit detected the motorcycle speeding through the village of Arles on the N80 late on Friday evening.
Gardaí followed the speeding bike before it was eventually stopped on the outskirts of Carlow town.
The rider failed a roadside drugs test for cannabis and was discovered to only have a learner's permit.
They've been charged to appear before an upcoming sitting at Carlow District Court.
