It will see the addition of a number of new classrooms and extensions.
Plans for the major expansion of a midlands school have been given the green light.
The LWETB has received planning permission for significant changes to Castlepollard Community College.
The existing extension to the main building will be demolished, allowing for the refurbishment of the premises, and two multi-storey extensions, which will see the addition of a number of new rooms.
A number of pre-fab classrooms will also be removed.
The development will allow the school to accommodate an additional 80 students.
Westmeath County Council granted planning permission subject to seven conditions.
Among the new rooms set to be added to the school are general and specialist classrooms, a special education needs unit, a PE hall, and a library.
It will also see the addition of two new multi-use games areas, but the existing play area will be removed.
Also included are changes to the car park, which will see the existing 58 spaces increased to 61, as well as 12 EV charging spaces.
The provision of 36 bike spaces, 28 of which are sheltered, is also included.
A new car set-down area will be constructed off the Mullingar Road to the west of the existing sports pitch and a footpath will be provided for safe pedestrian access to the school.
Enhanced footpaths will also be provided along the western boundary of the site that will connect to the existing footpaths on Mullingar Road to provide connectivity to Castlepollard.
