Midlands Students Facing The Worst Accommodation Crisis Ever

That's according to the TUS Students' Union.

Students in the midlands are facing into the worst accommodation crisis ever, according to TUS Students' Union.

The university's Athlone campus is grappling with a shortage of accommodation for the upcoming academic year, resulting from rent inflation, providers leaving the market, and refugees occupying units.

The Students' Union is appealing to university staff, as well as members of the public, to offer rooms in their homes.

Newly-appointed SU President, Niall Naughton has this advice for those who are struggling to find somewhere to live:

Long-term solutions are needed to tackle the student accommodation crisis.

The TUS Students' Union says there's an urgent need for purpose-built student units.
