Minimum Wage Rise Sparks Concern From Westmeath Retail Boss

A 55 cent rate increase is under consideration by the Cabinet for the next Budget.

A managing director of a Westmeath department store says the Government has to focus on supporting the costs of running a business instead of increasing minimum wage.

Government cabinet is considering a 55 cent increase to the rate in the next Budget.

It comes after a report by the Low Pay Commission was submitted to Enterprise Minister Peter Burke suggesting a 65 cent increase.
