He had disappeared from Westmeath last Friday.
A six year old boy, who had been reported missing from Westmeath, has been located.
Michael O'Connell disappeared from Mullingar last Friday.
He was believed to be in the company of adult relatives and thought to be in Northern Ireland or the border region.
Michael is described as approximately 4 foot tall with black hair and blue eyes.
Gardaí had identified two cars and a camper van believed to be related to the matter.
The authorities confirmed this afternoon that Michael has been found.
