The proposals are being put forward by Fine Gael.
Asylum seekers could have to pay towards their accommodation under new plans from Fine Gael.
The party wants to ensure if an asylum seeker is working in Ireland and approved to stay, they make a contribution towards any state accommodation and board they're receiving.
It's expected the amount paid would be linked to amount earned.
Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys told the Fine Gael Think-In at the Tullamore Court Hotel, it's a fair move:
