The Government expects to give the green light to TUS Athlone to develop new student accommodation this year.
Technological Universities were invited to submit proposals for housing for those in third-level education, as part of a scheme announced earlier this year.
It's understood TUS Athlone has land ready to be developed and provide accommodation for students.
