The aim is to construct safe cycle routes in the area.
A new study has found there are no no 'technical reasons' to prevent the development of a new Laois cycle hub.
Laois County Council has published the Durrow Community Family Cycle Hub Feasibility Study:
The objective of the facility would be to create safe cycle routes in the Dunmore and Capponellan Woodlands.
It's also hoped it would contribute to the economic development of the community.
The near 17km cycleway would consist of two loops centering on the town of Durrow, and would require the upgrading of the existing woodland paths.
It's estimated the development would cost in the realm of 550 thousand euro.
The feasibility study has found there are no technical reasons to prevent the proposed scheme from progressing, and the local community are very positively disposed towards the project.
It recommends appointing a firm of consulting engineers to progress the proposed development to the design stage.
