The Midlands Prison continues to be overcrowded.
904 prisoners were in custody at the facility yesterday, despite only having the bed space for 875.
Portlaoise Prison was also near capacity - the 229-bed institution had 218 prisoners in custody.
The worst affected facility in the country was the female prison in Limerick - that was at 161% capacity.
Last month, a report found ongoing jail overcrowding risks undermining Ireland's penal system, with people sleeping on mattresses regularly.
