New figures from the HSE show over 35,500 people nationally are being prescribed Ozempic under the Medical Card or Long Term Illness schemes to treat diabetes.
In Laois and Offaly, that figure is over 1,570 while in Longford-Westmeath, over 1,350 people received the drug under the public system last year.
