Patients Asked To Avoid Mullingar Hospital's ED Again

Management says they are experiencing busy conditions.

Mullingar Regional Hospital is once again asking people to avoid its adult emergency department where possible.

In a statement, management says they are experiencing busy conditions.

The hospital is 'in escalation' and staff are working to manage the current in-patient and Covid-19 bed capacity, along with scheduled care.

660 people are waiting on trolleys in hospitals around the country today, according to the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation.

That includes 10 in Mullingar Regional Hospital, eight in Tullamore, and three in Portlaoise.

Those in need of treatment are asked to consider alternative options before attending the ED.

If you do come to ED and are not triaged as seriously ill, you may need to wait for a long period to be seen.

However, those requiring urgent care will be prioritised.

Management is thanking the public for their support and understanding during this period.
