The Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is asking people to consider other options before attending the Adult Emergency Department, as it is extremely busy.
However, anyone who requires urgent care, will be prioritised.
Management is thanking the public for their support and understanding.
It's reminding patients who are over 16 with the following injuries, they can attend the Regional Hospital Mullingar Minor Injury Unit located at Charter Medical Private Hospital in Ballinderry, Mullingar:
o Suspected broken bones to arm (from collar bone to fingertip)
o Suspected broken bones in legs (from knees to toes)
o Sprains and strains
o Wounds, bites (animal or insect) cuts, grazes and scalp laceration
o Minor burns and scalds
o Foreign bodies
o Minor chest injuries
