It'll be the fifth store in Westmeath, if given the green light.
Aldi is planning to open a new multi-million euro store in the midlands.
The discounter has submitted plans to Westmeath County Council for a near 1,300 square metre outlet on the Athlone Road in Moate.
The €6.8 million store is expected to create 30 permanent jobs, with a further 50 being supported in the construction phase.
A spokesperson says the discount food giant is aiming to open the new store in Autumn 2025, and it'll be powered entirely by green electricty, with 245 solar panels to be installed on the roof.
It'll be the fifth Aldi store in Westmeath, joining two in Mullingar, one in Athlone and one in Kinnegad.
Donald Mackay, Managing Director of Operations, ALDI Ireland, says:
“We are delighted to submit our plans for a store in Moate and to commit to further investment in Co. Westmeath.
At a time when everyone is dealing with rising costs, the ability to offer our customers the best value at locations most convenient to them matters more than ever."
