The site is located between Monksland and the Roscommon–Westmeath border, west of Athlone.
Plans are being submitted for a major 116-hectare solar farm in the midlands.
Cuilmore Solar Limited is applying to build a solar project on the Roscommon-Westmeath border, including a PV farm, 38kV substation, battery storage, and a grid connection cable.
The company is looking for a 10 year planning permission decision for the project.
The solar farm would cover about 110 hectares, featuring rows of ground-mounted panels, 48 battery units, 15 transformers, access tracks, security cameras, and 2-metre perimeter fencing.
A decision on the project by Roscommon County Council is due July 23rd.
