The turbines will span 185 metres in height.
Plans have been submitted for a new wind farm in Offaly.
Statkraft is seeking permission to develop a 10-turbine farm near Rhode.
The proposed Ballinla Wind Farm would see 10 turbines developed in two clusters, at a height of 185 metres.
Statkraft says the location was chosen following a review of areas which could allow a project of this scale.
It also says it will strive to elimate any shadow flicker from the proposed turbines, which will be at least 740 metres from the nearest home.
It's expected the project will generate 55 megawatts of power to the electricty grid.
The developer says the wind farm will result in over €800,000 in annual payments to Offaly County Council, and will accumulate in the creation of a €4 million Community Benefit Fund, depending on the final design.
A decision from An Bord Pleanála is due by the 4th of September.
