5,200 FORSA civil and public service members working across Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath are taking part today.
People are being advised to expect delays and rescheduled appointments as more than 190 thousand SIPTU, Fórsa and INMO members engage in strike action from today.
Non-essential duties in places like hospitals, schools, local authorities and state agencies will not be completed as a work-to-rule action takes place.
It's aimed at getting the government to agree a new public-sector pay deal, after the last one expired in June.
Currently, there are 5,200 FORSA civil and public service members working across Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath.
