That's the figure from new data from the Residential Tenancies Board.
Registered private tenancies in Ireland have increased by nearly 20,000 in the last year.
New data from the Residential Tenancies Board shows the number of registered landlords has also risen by over 6,000 compared to last June.
Currently, there are over 8,500 private tenancies in the midlands.
However, many are questioning why numbers are increasing so rapidly in our current housing crisis.
