"Persistent failings" to revise the organisational structure at an Offaly nursing home is significantly impacting the safety and quality of life for residents.
That's among the findings of HIQA's latest report on Esker Rí Nursing Home, in Clara.
The Health Watchdog carried out an unannounced inspection of the facility in May, to follow up on actions taken after a series of significant issues of non-compliance were identified during poor inspections over the past year.
The latest report found multiple repeated non-compliance issues at the centre, including staff supervision arrangements, record keeping, and the management structure.
Inspectors highlighted a number of issues, including noting records regarding residents' transfers to hospital were not accurately maintained and did not reflect the actual number of residents transferred to hospital on a weekly basis.
However, residents did tell inspectors staff at the centre were courteous, helpful and kind.
The report shows the facility has made efforts to address the issues raised, such as appointing a Person in Charge, and submitting an improvement plan for transfers.
HIQA found Esker Rí to be non-compliant in eight of the ten areas inspected, substantially compliant in one and compliant in one.
