The Minister for Justice says they are still looking for solutions to prevent drones sending contraband into the Midlands Prison.
It follows reports over six weeks ago that staff in Portlaoise were concerned that devices could be used to carry guns to inmates' cells.
Laois Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan says it's a technology challenge, but believes a solution can be found soon.
