Planning permission is only being granted to some aspects of a solar farm project in Longford.
The State's planning body is issuing a 'split decision' for a Midlands Solar Farm.
It means the commission is only granting permission to some aspects of the project, which would export up to 80 megawatts of energy on a site spanning over 94 hectares of land.
The majority of the project, located on the outskirts of Ballymahon has been approved, while the planned battery energy storage system and 550 meters of security fencing has been rejected.
The Commission says it can't be certain that the BESS system can meet environmental requirements, including managing contaminated water during fires.
