The Union of Students of Ireland says many students were left out of pocket for rent when colleges closed early in March due to Covid-19.
It’s now looking for measures to be implemented to protect students in the event of another lockdown, such as a waiver for those who can’t access their accommodation, the ability to end a lease early, and the return of deposits.
