The fee for travelling on the M7 and M8 from Portlaoise to Limerick and Cork respectively, is set to increase by ten cent, to 2.10 each way.
Cabinet has agreed to delay the increase in toll charges by six months.
The move is expected to cost the state around €12.5 million.
They had been due to increase by the maximum amount allowed on January 1st.
