Speaking on behalf of the diocese, Bishop Fintan Monahan, who's from Tullamore, says Bishop Walsh was committed to supporting survivors of abuse, people in trouble and those struggling in life.
The diocese says he will be sadly missed by his wide circle of friends and clergy.
